Summerfest - The World's Largest Music Festival Come join us June 30-July 10 at “The World’s Largest Music Festival!” Summerfest celebrates its 38th year filling a 23,000-seat amphitheater and ten ground stages with national headliners for eleven straight days. Situated on 75-acres along the shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee, world-class live music, unique attractions, and over 50 restaurants combine to make Summerfest the premier even of the summer! ummerfest is an annual 11-day music blowout that takes place on 75 acres along the shores of Lake Michigan in downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Early Amphitheater Featuring 11-stages offering live music all day and night, plus a variety of food, shopping and children’s activities, Summerfest is a summer destination. The vision for Summerfest was the brainchild of the late Mayor Henry W. Maier in the 1960s. Following a visit to Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, Mayor Maier dreamed of a festival for the people of Milwaukee that would re-energize the downtown and provide a sense of community pride. His goal was to offer them an affordable vacation right in their hometown during the height of the summer season.
